Turnberry Resort targets ‘staycationers’ at NBWW designed JW Marriott in Miami
NBWW designed JW Marriott Turnberry Resort & Spa in Aventura shifted focus upon reopening in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The 685-room hotel and country club, which temporarily closed March 23, reopened June 1.
VP and Managing Director Jeffrey Klein told the Business Journal the hotel pivoted from marketing to group and corporate travelers and is now targeting “staycationers” and in-state travelers.
Prior to the outbreak, about 60% of the guests were corporate travelers staying in groups, he said. While the resort awaits their return, Klein said he’s hoping to attract restless Floridians who’ve grown tired of sheltering in place.
… The 5-acre Tidal Cove waterpark is open with social distancing guidelines in place and a 50% capacity limit. All retail stores and golf courses are open, as are the spa, salon, gym, Starbucks and fine-dining restaurant Bourbon Steak.
