Mira Mar Breaks Ground in Sarasota

Thu May 21 2026

Yesterday, the Mira Mar team gathered on South Palm Avenue to mark the official start of construction — a milestone moment for Sarasota and for everyone who has been part of bringing this vision to life.

The project is one of the most meaningful we’ve taken on. At its heart is the restoration of the historic Mira Mar Hotel — Sarasota’s first major downtown hotel, built in 1922 — reimagined as a retail destination under the care of historic preservation specialists REG Architects. Rising behind it, two 18-story luxury residential towers will house 70 estate-style residences, their development funding the restoration that makes the whole project possible.

As overall architect, Nichols Architects designed the luxury high-rise towers to complement and honor the historic structure they frame. This mixed-use development is the kind of project that sits at the intersection of everything we believe in — legacy, community, and architecture that earns its place in a city’s story. It also reflects our broader expertise in hospitality design and the adaptive reuse of landmark buildings, from the restoration of the St. Moritz Hotel in Miami Beach to the reimagining of the Seville Hotel as the EDITION Miami Beach.

Sarasota deserves this. And we’re proud to join the team building it.
