A New Chapter for Old Naples Hotel

Wed Aug 06 2025

A new hotel is taking shape in the heart of Naples, Florida—one that pays tribute to the city’s past while embracing its future. Currently under construction, the Old Naples Hotel is a ground-up development inspired by the charm and elegance of the original Naples Hotel, which opened in 1889 and operated for nearly 90 years just steps away from the site.

The project is being developed by Ocean Properties Hotels & Resorts in partnership with the Camalier family, longtime property owners in the area. Together, they aim to reestablish a sense of legacy in downtown Naples, bringing back the character and hospitality that once defined the neighborhood. The new hotel replaces the Third Street Plaza commercial building, which was demolished in late 2021.

Designed by Hart Howerton with Nichols Architects serving as Architects of Record, and TruexCullins on the interiors, the Old Naples Hotel draws on the architectural language of historic coastal resorts while incorporating modern-day amenities. The building will include 109 guest rooms, two retail shops, a rooftop pool, a spa, an indoor café with outdoor dining, and a corner sundry shop—providing both visitors and locals with new experiences in one of Naples’ most walkable areas.

The hotel is also designed with openness and connection to the streetscape in mind. The goal is not just to create a luxury destination, but to contribute positively to the fabric of the Third Street district.

Construction began in spring 2024, and the hotel is expected to open in 2026.
