Miami-based Related Group and Fort Lauderdale-based Merrimac recently announced a deal with Hilton to brand the 92-unit condo at 1350 S. Ocean Blvd. under the luxury Waldorf Astoria. Nick Perez, president of the Related Group’s condominium division, touted the branding deal as Waldorf Astoria’s first standalone residential project at the Business Journal Breaking Ground panel in Pompano Beach on Sept. 28.

“We set out to distill the timeless elegance and exclusivity of the Waldorf Astoria brand into a purely residential format,” Perez stated. “From the design and architecture to the resident services, we’ve pulled out all the stops to ensure this property fully embodies the Waldorf Astoria brand. There is no compromise in our approach and we are so excited to see how the market reacts to this incredible development.”

Merrimac secured development approval for the 1.71-acre site in 2015 and later co-developed the property across the street into apartments. In June, Merrimac filed a joint site plan for the property with Related Group featuring a new design by Coral Gables-based Nichols Architects, BAMO, Enea Landscape Architecture, and KORA.

The 28-story condo would include 4,000 square feet of restaurants and 193 parking spaces. Units would range from 2,100 square feet with two bedrooms to 6,100 square feet with five bedrooms. Pricing for the regular condos ranges from $2.5 million to $5.9 million, but the penthouses are more expensive.
