Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, a Nichols Original, Set for Renovation – HotelBusiness

Wed May 14 2025

Nearly 25 years after we first brought it to life, the Nichols Architects-designed Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne is entering a new chapter. A $100M renovation is now underway, focused on updating interiors and enhancing amenities while preserving the architectural legacy that has made the resort a landmark since 2001.

It’s the first comprehensive refresh of the 13-story, 420-room hotel since its opening — a testament to the longevity and impact of its original design.

Spearheaded by design architect Hart Howerton, with public spaces envisioned by DesignAgency and guestrooms redesigned by Chapi Chapo Design, the renovation’s vision is rooted in the resort’s island identity.

We’re proud to see our design stand the test of time, and we hope the renewed Ritz continues to be cherished by guests for many more years to come.
