The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne to Reopen After $100 Million Transformation

Fri Oct 10 2025

A beloved South Florida landmark is reopening its doors this December. The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, originally designed by Nichols Architects, is set to welcome guests back on December 9 after a $100 million renovation led by Miami-based hospitality investment and development firm Gencom.

The extensive transformation reimagines the resort’s guestrooms, dining concepts, and wellness facilities, breathing new life into the 17-acre property while maintaining the spirit of the original design. According to a quote on the South Florida Business Journal, the project “honors the resort’s 24-year-old history while creating new experiences for today’s luxury traveler.”

While our team was not involved in the recent renovation, The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne remains one of Nichols Architects’ most celebrated legacy projects — a landmark that helped define the island’s quiet elegance and enduring appeal. We take great pride in having shaped the original architectural vision for this coastal retreat—one that continues to serve as the foundation for its timeless elegance and connection to place.
